The Green Bay Packers have announced the date of the 9th annual Family Night – an intra-squad scrimmage between the offense and defense. The event will be hosted on August 8th at Lambeau Field. On-field football drills begin at 6:30 P.M. with the scrimmage starting at approximately 7:30 P.M. Fireworks will conclude the event as the Packers celebrate their 90th birthday. The 2009 Green Bay Packers schedule, highlighted by 5 nationally televised games, was released by the NFL today. The pre-season home schedule includes two Saturday night games against Cleveland and Buffalo. The regular season schedule features a prime-time Sunday Night home-opener against Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears. Other marquis matchups at Lambeau Field include games against division rival Minnesota, a Monday Night showdown against AFC power Baltimore and a return to Lambeau Field by Wisconsin-native Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys. The road schedule features trips to the popular vacation destinations of Tampa in November and Phoenix in January.

In 1959, Fuzzy Thurston was traded from the Baltimore Colts to the Green Bay Packers. A relative unknown, Fuzzy drove all night to Green Bay and showed up at Packers Training Camp for his first practice. Upon arrival, the weary-eyed Thurston was greeted by new Packers Head Coach Vince Lombardi who yelled “where the hell have you been, you’re late”! Fuzzy Thurston made his mark in Green Bay. Teaming with fellow guard Jerry Kramer, the duo formed the nucleus of the famed “Packer Sweep”. During his legendary career, Fuzzy helped the Packers win 5 World Championships including the first 2 Super Bowls. Fuzzy was voted to the NFL All-Pro Team three times, receiving more votes than ANY other player in 1962. After his retirement, Fuzzy Thurston has remained in the Green Bay area where he owns Fuzzys 63 Bar and Titletown Tickets and Tours.
